As per my proposal, I have physically swapped the H323 Polycom
Viewstations between ISAC2 room 222 (video room) and room 223.
I have preserved the ip addresses and E164 extensions, i.e. the set in
the video room is still 142.90.97.17 GDS 0011349201225 etc. so it should
not affect anyone calling us.
The one now in room 222 does not support ISDN. But we dropped the service
some years ago.
Also, it does not have software support for the regular phone. So the
option to add a phone conversation to an H323 session is no longer
available.
I do not believe anyone was using this feature. The ability to add a
phone via the echo canceller is unaffected.
I have not yet transferred the addressbooks. I think I can copy the
entries across using the Web interface.
Some of the preset camera locations will be "wrong". I am not sure if
anyone used them. I set 0 and 1. "0" is a default room view; "1" is a
single user at the table.
As per my last, the point of the exercise is to get native multipoint
(not requiring DOE funded participation to use ESnet) and second-camera
capability in the same room.
It would be possible to hook up the phone connection on the set now in
room 223. If anyone thinks this would be useful. Currently, there is no
way (and was not) to join phone to H323 in that room.
Note that the remote controls are swapped, too. The key layout is
slightly different which is annoying. I am not sure whether the newer set
needs the newer remote for anything. Basic functions seem to be
compatible and I can swap them back if people want.
