Sent on behalf of the Science Week 2022 Local Organizing Committee

Dear friends, colleagues, and other members of the TRIUMF community,

The main elements of Science Week 2022<https://meetings.triumf.ca/event/289/> have been confirmed, and registration is now open<https://mis.triumf.ca/events/event.jsf?confcode=SW22>!

Please visit the website<https://meetings.triumf.ca/event/289/> to find the preliminary program descriptions, a list of confirmed speakers, and a promotional video<https://meetings.triumf.ca/event/289/attachments/2797/3430/SW22_promo_final%201.mp4> highlighting everything being planned for this exciting event!

Science Week 2022 is being organized as a hybrid meeting, with in-person events and full support for remote participation. A special emphasis is being put on social and professional networking opportunities, along with a series of engaging opportunities for students (see important notice below).

Overall, a special emphasis of this year's Science Week will be to enable cross-and inter-disciplinary discussion throughout the TRIUMF science program, with a focus on the development of the next Five-Year Plan. We hope to bring together many members of the TRIUMF community for fruitful and innovative discussions. Please reach out<mailto:triumfsw at triumf.ca> to the organizing committee if you have new initiatives or ideas, or to share any questions or suggestions.

Science Week 2022 will feature three main program streams:

  * Celebrate recent achievements and articulate the science drivers for our current program - we want to highlight and recognize all that was accomplished over the last year.
  * Collaborate on major science directions and new initiatives for the next 5-Year Plan - guided by TRIUMF’s 20-Year Vision, which will be formally released this summer.
  * Connect through ample networking opportunities for community, students, and postdocs - engagements include a reception, Virtual Reality poster session, a 3-minute Let’s Talk Science competition, and a BBQ with sporting events. Finally, as has been standard practice for several years, the week will conclude with the TRIUMF Users Group (TUG) Annual General Meeting.
Important notice for students and postdocs: If you are eager to participate in either the VR poster session or the 3-minute Let’s Talk Science competition, you need to register before Wednesday, June 1st, 2022 and indicate your interest in the registration form. We will be in touch with more details about participation requirements.
