Graduate Students and Workday

Hi grads,

As I’m sure you’ve heard already, TRIUMF has now moved to Workday for their financial and HR system. If you’ve done the Workday training, one of the things that might have stood out was that pay-wise, they classify workers as either “salaried” or “hourly” in how they track hours worked and pay. However, grad students don’t really fall into either category.

We’ve gotten word from HR that with Workday, graduate students ARE expected to fill out timecards each pay period.  So, please be sure to fill out your bi-weekly timecards at the end of each pay period so that your supervisor can approve them, and you can get your stipend!

If you’re unsure about which account/project to charge time against, please discuss this with your supervisor. If you’re hearing all this information for the first time, make sure to go review TRIUMF’s Workday training module (within Workday itself)!
