Contractor Safety – Prime Contractor

All contractors must complete a Job Hazard Assessment (JHA) and Pre-Job Briefing (PJB) safety record with a TRIUMF Work Supervisor (Qualified Coordinator), who must be qualified through BOTH the TRIUMF Supervisor course and the JHA/PJB workday modules.
Accompanied access for contractors is NOT sufficient; a PJB is mandatory as their presence is considered a high-level hazard, and TRIUMF must ensure all workers (including contractors) are fully informed of all potential workplace hazards.

Job Briefing Must Include:

  *   Contractor’s supervisor contact information (Name and Phone Number)
  *   Scope of work and hazard awareness (general and specific hazards in the area of work)
  *   Site Specific Information: 10 km/h speed limit, reporting of injuries and first aid information, emergency assembly areas, and location of facilities (washrooms, designated smoking areas, cafeteria, etc.)

General Work Safety:
Work activity must follow the Pre-Job Briefing and Job Hazard Assessment. Work shall cease immediately; if there is       (i) change of scope, (ii) new hazards, or (iii) ineffective controls.
Completed Pre-Job Briefing (PJB) form must remain at the worksite during the work and, upon completion, should be retained by the group or submitted to the OH&S Office (Service Annex room 106) or mailbox in MOB (Terry Sanghera, Tejasdeep Sahdev, Eduardo Colin).
