Dear Colleagues,


We’re writing to update you on developments in the Supervisor Safety Training Program.



Why you're getting this notice:

L&D and QESH have rebuilt the Supervisor Safety Training Program to better fit TRIUMF's environment. The updated course launched May 15, 2025, with:

  *   Stronger content for young and new workers
  *   A clearer walkthrough of Workday training procedures
  *   Expanded coverage of safety personnel and emergency systems
  *   A fuller overview of shared site hazards
  *
A retraining cycle extended from 1 year to 2 years

Who does this apply to?: If you're a functioning supervisor, and fall into one of the following categories, this pertains to you.

  *   BAE Job Family; or
  *   Researcher (Postdoc or RA); or
  *   Management or Executive Management Job Family; or
  *   Have previously taken the Supervisor Safety Training; or
  *   Have applied for TRIUMF Work Permits in the past; or
  *   Have taken the Prime Contractor Safety Training

What changed in Workday:


  *   A configuration error affected expiry notifications for some supervisors, and some people didn't receive timely alerts that their training was due. This has been corrected. Everyone's most recent completion record has been carried into the new course shell, so no one needs to re-enter past completions.



What this means for you:

  *   If you completed the course on or after May 15, 2025 → your expiration is set to one year from that completion date. Since the course content hasn't changed since the retraining cycle was extended, your current training is in effect.
  *   If you completed the course before May 15, 2025 → you'll see a notification that your training is out of date, with the new course assigned in "My Learning."

*How to access your training:

  *   Previous Completion: Check the ‘View Your Learning History’ in the ‘My Learning’ section in Workday for the new ‘Supervisor Safety: Bi-Annual Training’. If it is expired, please click on the course link, and Enroll in the course.
  *   New Enrollment: Go to the ‘My Learning’ section in Workday and click on the link and click ‘Enroll’.

Timeline: Training must be completed by no later than Monday, August 10th, 2026.
