GAPS survey follow-up - your wellness is a priority

Dear members of the GAPS community,

I am writing to follow up on the recent GAPS survey that has highlighted certain challenges that some in the GAPS community are facing, not only through the ongoing pandemic but also the overall challenges with the cost of living in the Metro Vancouver area.
The last 18 months have been very challenging, particularly for your community.

If you are facing significant challenges, I would encourage you to seek support.
Please discuss your challenges directly with your supervisor if possible.
You can also reach out to confidentially to myself, Monika Stachura, the GAPS liaison scientist, or HR.

If you are struggling or you feel that you need mental health advice, you can take advantage of the services offered by TRIUMF’s Employee Assistance Program<https://www.triumf.ca/human-resources/employee-assistance-program> (EAP).
Everyone from the GAPS community qualifies for the EAP—even if you’re not directly paid by TRIUMF. The EAP provides free confidential, personal counselling services.

In addition, I would like to more fully understand how we might be able to jointly address specific challenges and work with you to explore possible resolutions. I also would like to encourage exchanges within the GAPS community to share challenges, vulnerabilities, and successes.
I will be working with the GAPS committee to set up a forum for such conversations in the next couple of weeks.
