Dear GAPS members,

Have you ever considered pursuing academic teaching as a part of your career?

TRIUMF in combination with the Center of Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning  (CIRTL) at UBC is organizing an Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) designed specifically for postdoctoral fellows.

What is ISW workshop?
It is a 4-day online workshop where you will learn evidence-based teaching techniques focused on theory and practice, lesson design methods and adult learning theory.

During the workshop, you will work closely with your peers and trained facilitators in a supportive and safe atmosphere where you will have the chance to start developing or improving your teaching skills. As part of the workshop, you will teach three short lessons and receive constructive feedback from your peers. There are no previous teaching prerequisites.

Those completing the workshop will:

  *   Receive an internationally recognized ISW certificate
  *   Receive a CIRTL Associate certificate recognized in the US and Canada
  *   Develop or improve your teaching skills
  *   Getting access to the next teaching training steps facilitated by CIRTL,
  *   Possibility of being involved in teaching internships
  *   Open the door to new teaching opportunities

When will it take place?
The workshop consists in 4-6 hours of online learning during July: 17th, 18th, 24th, and 25th.
In addition to the online lectures, asynchronous work for the participants is required as well.
