Machine Shop and 3D Printing Training

Hi GAPSers,

Did you know that TRIUMF has a community machine shop outside of detector facility with a bandsaw, brake press, drill press, metal shear, sander, and grinder for you to use to make components for your experiment? Detector facility also has a set of community-use 3D printers! Both resources are available to you after completing some training.

To use the machines outside of detector facility you must watch the appropriate training videos (linked at the end of this email), then email Rick Maharaj to let him know you completed it and understand the safety procedures. You will then be added to a list of authorized users so you can access the lockout key.

To complete the 3D printing training, you need to attend an in-person session run by Alec Stockton. Please fill out this form by the end of the day of Friday, June 6, if you are interested so we can select a date. https://forms.office.com/r/i1qApnVPD9

Detector facility is in the meson hall extension service annex, passed TR13.
