[Triumf-linux-managers] Difference B/N LVM and Extended partitioning.

Sorry, I should have been more specific with my question...

I do understand the concept of LVM (when there are more than one disk 
present in a system).
What I don't understand is why the automatic partitioning with various 
flavors of linux (FC and SL),
use LVM even if there is only one disk present in the machine...
