Title: Violation of parity and time-reversal in atoms: precision tests of the standard model of elementary particles

Abstract: High-precision measurements of parity and time-reversal violation in atoms provide a powerful means of testing the standard model of elementary particles and searching for new physics beyond it. In this talk I will present an overview of the current status of the field, particular emphasis will be given to parity violation in cesium and to the electric dipole moment (time-reversal violation) of mercury. Atomic physics calculations for these systems will be described.

Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
