Title: Neutron decay and the Standard Model - The question of the unitarity of the Cabbibo-Kobayashi-Maskawa Matrix
Abstract: The traditional way of testing the Unitarity of the Cabbibo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix is a joint analysis of certain nuclear, Kaon and B meson decays. Since long the test fails by about 2 sigma. A recent measurement of the beta asymmetry in neutron decay seems to confirm this problem, but the agreement with older measurements of the beta asymmetry is poor. I will discuss this experiment (PERKEO II) and a new one (aSPECT) which aims to clarify the situation.
