Title: New Lattice Calculations for V_ub Determination from B => pi Semileptonic Decays
Abstract: Exclusive semileptonic heavy decays can be used to determine CKM matrix elements but only if the QCD form factors for the process have been calculated. Lattice calculations for quantities in the high recoil momentum (p) region have been hampered by (ap)^2 discretization errors, requiring smaller lattice spacings (a) than are currently feasible. In this talk I will discuss a new technique which allows for the calculation of heavy-to-light decays over the entire recoil range using current lattice spacings. This method involves a new effective field theory optimized for a moving heavy quark called moving NRQCD (mNRQCD). I present preliminary results of this method including the correct scaling of the decay constants at very large momenta. These results give us confidence that the formalism is appropriate and essential for the timely and accurate calculation of semileptonic form factors, which is our real goal.
Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
