Title: Nuclear structure from cold, trapped atoms
Abstract: Neutral atom traps provide a well localised sample of cold atoms that are both isomerically and isotopically pure within a highly controllable environment. When coupled to a radioactive beam facility this allows for precision atomic spectroscopy to be performed along a chain of isotopes. From these measurements detailed ground state nuclear structure information can be obtained. This includes nuclear moments and spins as well as changes in the mean square charge radii and magnetisation distributions. Results from such experiments on both Potassium and Francium will be presented along with future plans.
Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
