Speaker: Harry Ing (Bubble Technology Industries)

Title: An Overview of the Founding and Current Activities of Bubble Technology Industries

Abstract: Since its founding in 1988 as the first spin-off from the Atomic Energy of Canada, BTI has remained relatively unknown to many Canadian groups - including physicists. This lecture is intended to introduce BTI so that the phtsics community gets to know us better.

Since its spin-off with the original mandate to commercialize the "bubble detector", BTI has expanded into many other areas of activity. Currently, we have a global reputation for highly sensitive neutron detectors and technically advanced radiation spectrometers. Our R&D staff is well recognized for their ingenuity and capability to resolve a multitude of complex radiation and nuclear needs. Many of these include the development of next generation radiation sensors. Our clients are from major laboratories and Government departments throughout the world. We are deeply involved in land-mine detection, counter-terrorism and space programs.

The breadth and variety of our work always surprise those who come to know us. This lecture will provide an overview of many of the current BTI activities without going into excessive technical detail.

Stimulants available 15 minutes before the talk.
