Title: Shape coexistence in Lead and Polonium nuclei

Abstract: Shape coexistence at low excitation energy in Pb-Po nuclei will be discussed, including the recent data on triple shape coexistence in 186Pb: A.Andreyev et al., Nature 405 (2004) 430.

The recent results obtained by three complementary methods at ISOLDE (CERN), GSI(Darmstadt) and JYFL(Jyvaskyla) will be presented. The ground-state properties (e.g. charge radii and magnetic moments) of the lightest Pb isotopes were studied by using the Resonance Ionization Laser Ion Source (RILIS) coupled to ISOLDE. The low-lying intruder bandheads were identified via the alpha/beta decay studies at the recoil separators SHIP(GSI) and RITU(JYFL). The excited states were studied by using the Recoil Decay Tagging method at the systems consisting of a large ball of Ge detectors and a recoil separator, e.g. Gammasphere+FMA and JUROGAM+RITU.
