Title: Axial couplings and strong decay widths of heavy hadrons
Abstract: The low-energy dynamics of heavy-light mesons and baryons can be described by heavy-hadron chiral perturbation theory (HHchiPT), an effective field theory for QCD that is based on both chiral symmetry and heavy-quark symmetry. HHchiPT has a wide range of phenomenological applications, and is also an important tool for guiding chiral extrapolations of lattice QCD data. At leading order, the HHchiPT Lagrangian contains three low-energy constants: g_1 for heavy-light mesons and g_2, g_3 for heavy-light baryons. These axial couplings are fundamental quantities in QCD, but their values were previously not well known. In this seminar, I will discuss the first complete lattice QCD calculation of g_1, g_2, and g_3. I will also show how the results can be used to predict decay widths of charm and bottom baryons.
