Title: Weak properties of nuclei from first principles

Abstract: In this talk I will present recent highlights in computing weak properties of nuclei using coupled-‐cluster theory with interactions and currents from chiral effective field theory. The coupled-‐cluster method is a microscopic theory that can naturally account for (i) effects of three nucleon forces, (ii) the presence of open decay channels and particle continuum, and (iii) many-‐nucleon correlations. All these ingredients are necessary in order to build a framework with predictive capabilities applicable at the extremes of the nuclear chart and with relevance for experimental programs at rare isotope beam facilities. The topics I will discuss in this talk include: (i) what are the microscopic origins of the quenching of the axial vector coupling g_A? (ii) Revisiting the anomalous life time of 14C, (iii) optimization of chiral NN and 3N interactions that describe nuclear binding energies and radii accurately, (iv) the (weak) charge distributions in 48Ca from first principles and other correlated observables (such as the dipole polarizability) relevant to the Calcium Radius Experiment (CREX) at Jefferson Laboratory.
