Title: Penning trap mass measurements to test 3N forces in atomic nuclei

Abstract: Much of our knowledge on increasingly exotic nuclei is only possible because of greatly improved radioactive beam production and delivery. High-precision mass spectrometers have made use of these beams to refine nucleosynthesis abundance calculations, increase our understanding of fundamental aspects of the strong force, and provide signatures of exotic phenomena such as halo formation. One area that has received intense theoretical and experimental attention is the possibility of new sub-shell closures in the calcium isotopic chain at $N = 32$ and $34$. Both of these magic numbers have been predicted in chiral EFT based calculations that include three nucleon (3N) forces. Further, these 3N forces have now also been applied in open shell nuclei along the $A = 20$ and $21$ isobaric chains, to test the predictions of the isobaric multiplet mass equation. In this talk I will present the results of the TITAN mass measurements of $^{49-52}$Ca, $^{47-51}$K, and $^{20,21}$Mg, and compare with theoretical calculations using both phenomenological interactions and interactions that include the effect of 3N forces.
