Title: Measuring E0 strengths in 154Sm with the SAGE electron spectrometer as a test of collective models
Abstract: A large degree of collectivity is expected in nuclear excitations of even-even rare-earth nuclei and the nature of excited 0+ states in these nuclei is of particular interest. E0 transition strength is an important probe of these excited 0+ strength and can be effectively studied with internal conversion electron spectroscopy. The Silicon And GErmanium (SAGE) spectrometer at Jyvaskyla was employed to measure E0 strengths in 154Sm as a test of its suitability under the Bohr and Mottleson beta-vibrational model. A discussion of these collective models, E0 transitions and electron spectroscopy will be presented, as well as SAGE, the analysis techniques used and results obtained.
