Title:     Radioisotope beam production target R&D: online irradiation of a two-step converter and offline material performance studies

Abstract: This talk focuses on some research and development activities that have contributed to increasing the quantity and quality of radioactive ion beams delivered from ISAC targets to user experiments. First, the design and online results from a new two-step, proton-to-neutron converter target will be presented, which aimed at delivering neutron-rich fission fragments with up to 50 times less neutron-deficient contaminants. Second, the experimental procedure used to characterize transport properties of several elements in ISAC target materials will be shown, as well as the results of measured release fraction performed at CHI stand.
