Title: Searching for BSM Physics with beta-decay precision experiments and calculations
Abstract: An increasing body of evidence suggests that the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics is incomplete. Recent experiments showing deviations from the SM in high-precision measurements highlight the importance of the nuclear precision frontier in Beyond the SM searches. As precision frontier research involves measuring nuclear phenomena, mostly beta-decays, with high accuracy, it requires highly accurate nuclear theoretical predictions.
The talk will focus on the search for exotic weak interactions using beta-decays. It will describe the theory's challenge of nuclear calculations and present a general framework for assessing beta-decay precision experiments. It will demonstrate how this formalism opens the door to new measurements, such as those of forbidden beta-decays, as well as to highly accurate and controlled calculations of beta-decay observables relevant to ongoing experiments. Using this formalism combined with ab-initio nuclear calculations for 6He and 23Ne beta-decay measurements, I shall conclude by presenting some recent boundaries on tensor exotic weak interactions.
