Title:     Advanced Reactor Materials & Chemistry R&D at CNL

Abstract: Materials scientists, Hygreeva Namburi and Robert DeAbreu, from Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) are currently visiting TRIUMF as part of a bilateral collaboration between the two organizations. During this visit, the use of TRIUMF’s beam facilities, particularly the Isotopic Separator and Accelerator (ISAC), for irradiating candidate materials to support the R&D of Small Modular Reactors (SMR’s) will be explored. Their presentation will include an introduction to CNL, an overview of candidate materials for SMR applications, material challenges associated with irradiation damage and its synergic effects on material degradation, as well as advanced materials testing capabilities at CNL.
