Title: Searching for nu-physics with MicroBooNE: Low Energy Excess and eV-scale Sterile Neutrino Oscillations

Abstract: The MicroBooNE experiment employs an 85-tonne active volume liquid argon time projection chamber to detect neutrinos from both the on-axis Booster Neutrino Beam (BNB) and off-axis Neutrinos at the Main Injector (NuMI) beam. In this talk, I will present the results from MicroBooNE's low energy excess (LEE) search based on a search for single photons as well as an anomalous excess of electron neutrino events. I will also discuss the latest results that use these well-understood selections to perform a search for an eV scale sterile neutrino in the 3+1 oscillation framework. Constraints are presented for regions of sterile neutrino oscillation parameter space relevant to the Gallium/Reactor electron neutrino disappearance anomaly and LSND/MiniBooNE electron neutrino appearance anomalies. The impact of a degeneracy caused by the cancellation of electron neutrino appearance and disappearance, and the demonstration of the degeneracy mitigation by combining results from the BNB and NuMI beams which have substantially different electron neutrino/muon neutrino ratios, will also be described.
