Dear Colleagues,

See message below from Petr. We need to come up with 4-5 poster suggestions for ACOT/PRC by Tuesday!!!
These should be backward looking and ideally backed up by publications (but I think major construction milestones are also fine).

I would think we would try and cover our focus projects mostly, but can also have more suggestions.

Thank you!

Oliver

Hi all,

Following up on the ACOT and PRC: I received more details regarding the poster session that will be organized for both the ACOT and the PRC. The ACOT poster session will serve as a dry run for the crucial PRC session around Nov 30. The intention is to have 22 posters presented in the auditorium and highlight TRIUMF research through the good work of our outstanding young talent, i.e., grad students and post-docs (even senior undergrads if appropriate).

Please send me recommendations for poster presenters (and their research focus) from within your departments. As a starting point, let’s use the past numbers of presenters:

PP – 4-5
NP – 4-5
SciTech, SciComp, CMMS, TD – 2 each

Note that the final selection will be done by the tiger team. Consequently, we may have more recommendations than for the past events and keep in mind that there will be a down selection.

As the PRC is backward looking, I think it makes sense to have posters highlighting results and research backed up by some publications. Obviously not everything on a poster needs to be published. However, I would avoid presentations of just future plans that might not even materialize.

Please send me your recommendations by Tuesday. I need to send this to Marcello and Monica by Tuesday EOB. They will then contact the presenters themselves once the selection is done.

Thanks,
Petr

Apologies to Reda and Wojtek, I forgot to include them in the original message (please see below).

There will be only a single plenary talk given by Nigel Smith.

All the PSD talks are in parallel sessions.

Thanks,
Petr

Sorry, now I see...

This is back to the old format where the "plenary" talk is now the lead talk of the parallel session..?

Hi Petr,
To clarify... will there also be plenary talks?

Thanks

Subject: ACOT

Hi all,

I received more information about the upcoming ACOT. There will be the standard parallel sessions on Oct. 25; 10:00 – 12:00, except for the NP that is planned online 24hrs in advance (Oct. 24; 10:00 – 12:00).

We need to decide the conveners and I propose to continue as in the past (Particle+SciTech+SciComp Oliver, CMMS Syd, Theory myself). However, since Chris is the lead and the presenter of the PRC NP plenary talk, I think Barry could become the Nuclear Physics session convener this time. Would you agree?

The slides of the parallel session lead talks will have to be made available to ACOT 5-7 days ahead of the meeting.

It is proposed that the poster session can be used as a PRC poster session dry run, which makes sense to me.

@proposed conveners: Please confirm your availability.

We need to think about the poster presenters. So far no guideline about the number.

Thanks,

Petr
